I made this (now rather cheesy) header one afternoon a couple of years ago.

  • My new web site, www.shoplonsdale.com
  • This site lists all shops & offices on Lonsdale Ave. and links to their own websites if they have one.
  • It has been search engine optimized to the max and we are hoping it will generate a lot of traffic.
  • This is a small web site, just one page, I made for a local accountant.
  • It's really simple with some nice graphics mostly to identify their new location.
  • This is a 250 pixel ad I made them as well for my Shoplonsdale web site.

This was the first Flash ad header I made for Shop Lonsdale back when I was a Realtor.

  • This is a flyer I made using Adobe InDesign.
It is a 4 x 9 inch, full colour rack card.
  • I have included my own photographs for art & effect. I had Contact Printing in North Van print 12,000 of them. They turned out beautifully.

  • This is a reasonably large web site I've recently done for a Doctor in West Vancouver.
  • It includes pretty much everything, drop down menu, Flash, Flash slide shows, etc. I made everything from scratch using all Macromedia and a lot of Adobe CS2.
  • The Doctor then needed print material to go with all the new branding I had designed for her so I made this 3 fold brochure for her.
  • The first image is the outside the second is the inside of the brochure.
  • I made this in Illustrator CS2. These images aren't quite accurate as the bleeds are showing through here. I made the header fonts & I bought the header images from " Adobe Stock Photos" in Bridge.
  • I then finished her marketing off with this new grayscale ad for a local newspaper also with Illustrator.

My Real Estate Home PageMy Fabulous BlogMark Rosenberg Realtor

  • This is the first site I built. (My own of course).
  • It's quite large & fairly basic although I think it looks great. Effectively it's a resume with some resources.
  • The first page has fireworks drop down buttons
  • I've recently re-vamped this page. I've done a lot of slicing here to incorporate the background with the page.
  • This was my first Flash nav bar. I made from scratch of course. (Movie-clip buttons no less)
  • This is a recent site I did for Mark.
  • It turned out beautifully. Simple, with a really nice Flash banner. (He asked for the black bg).
  • The listing thumbs swap on to a larger stage using java behaviors on roll over.

Swiss Sports Haus

  • This was my first Flash ad. The stage was sized for a specific location.
  • At first I made it stop at the end of scene 3 (the end of the movie) and start again on rollover, however I decided to allow it to loop, as it is an ad, and I needed it to grab the viewers attention. So now it goes to frame 164 on roll-over which is the business' location and other data. Check it out.
  • And of course it goes to the main web site on click.
  • There were a lot of layers involved in this simple ad. (I see I need to re-do the logo in Illustrator)

  • This was the first commercial site I did.
  • Rolf, the owner wanted it very simple so it's only 2 pages on a white background. Although I used java for the drop up menu as shown above.
  • This whole site is a frame set. This store links to Swiss manufacturers with entirely Flash sites. So we needed a large stage without loosing his site.
  • Check out the links, it's cool. Nice Flash.

My desk

This is an early Flash ad I made for myself when I was in Real Estate.
It's poor for my today standards. However I did learn basic "action script" even before Photoshop.
If I made it again now it would be a lot sharper & graphically enhanced.

This is a Craigslist ad I made for myself in Photoshop. I then exported it to Fireworks and created hotspot links.

I exported it again, this time to Dreamweaver and created a page just for the ad. I opened the Fireworks html & jpg on the page, copied the html & posted the html onto Craigslist.

The tricky part was figuring out I needed to change the src from local to the specific url in order to show the picture.

Once I did that ...viola! The image worked and so did all the links. Craigslist doesn't permit any java or flash just html.

This was my first fair attempt at masking about 3 years ago. This is a picture of my daughter Gillian posing with her soccer medal. After removing the red eye and masking her out of the first picture using calculations & levels in Photoshop I centered her on the picture of the leaves & used "colour match" to darken her up and match her tones to the background.

I then used a wide inner shadow at 90 degrees (strait down) in a brown hue taken from her hair. This removed a white line surrounding her that was left over from the original photo. I also added a realistic darkening and shadow to her clothing as it was too bright from the camera's flash.

I then added a long & far drop shadow to give at least some look of depth & realism. I did try a channel gradient lens blur on the background but it didn't add to any realism, I think it made it look worse so I dropped it.

I really like making masks.

These are portraits I've taken with my 10 mp digital camera & then photoshoped. My wife April & brother Cameron. They wanted "Facebook" photos and I said sure. April's mask was a little tough as I took her photo in front of the greyish / brown stucco on our house. I won't do that again. Cam's was easy as I photographed him in my front yard with a blue sky background.

I've got hundreds of beautiful stock photos that I have taken myself. They're great for filler and headers.

Here's a quick Flash Slide show of some non-photoshoped pictures I took last year. My photography's gotten a lot better since last year. I've got hundreds more now and I contribute to "istock.com"

I use a 10 mega pixel camera so the originals are huge and fantastic. I love photography!

I like to use Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign to make print & web flyers for Realtors. It's fun combining creativity with marketing.

I've learned a lot about typography.

I hated the idea of learning Illustrator, however I learned it. Big Time. It's so complicated. Even more than Photoshop. However, it's mandatory and the weird thing is I use it all the time.

This is a nice ad I made for myself recently for the North Shore News using this knowledge. I have around 6,000 fonts probably 1,500 are open and I use glysf's to their max when possible. I love beautiful fonts.

In this ad I used a picture of the Lions I took myself as a backdrop to my header. I like it because it's not too busy and the text blends in quite well due to its 50% opacity.

I have complete understanding of print as well as web.

My option for seriously learning all this software, was & still is the "Total Training ©" series. This is a brilliantly produced series of work along side lectures and courses that may actually be more in depth than what you would learn at a school. Some of these courses take months & months to complete when working at them on a part time basis. They are extremely in depth and instruct on every aspect of the software. I enjoy using these as I have dual monitors which makes it much easier to work along as you are constantly pausing and going backwards on the video, which you would not be able to do in a classroom with a teacher. If you would like to see what I have learned please just click on the picture to download the PDF of the course outline. I have completed the courses below & continue daily with the new CS3 DVD's. I have recently been studying the "Photoshop Top Secret" series as well as Lynda.com's "Illustrator for the web", fun stuff!!! Although I preferred Bioshock.
